We witnessed Kaṁsavadha today. Thought of sharing a beautiful verse related to that incident.

This verse describes how Kr̥ṣṇa was seen by various people.

As the best amongst mountains (शैलेन्द्र-कल्पः) by the wrestlers(मल्लैः),
as a child (शिशुः) by others (इतर-जनैः),
as Manmatha [himself] (पुष्पचापः - lit:Mr.Flower-Bow) by the ladies(अङ्गनाभिः),
as an ordinary being(प्राकृतात्मा) by the cowherds (गोपैः तु),
as the Cosmic bodied (विश्वकायः) Immeasurable One (अप्रमेयः) by Indra (कुलिश-भृता) in the heaven (दिवि),
as angry (क्रुद्धः) Yama (कालः) by Kaṁsa (कंसेन) who was looking at Him with terror-filled eyes (भय-चकित-दृशा)
as the form that is to be meditated upon (ध्येय-मूर्तिः) by the Yogins (योगिभिः)
- so was Hari (हरिः), the bestower of bliss (-आनन्द-कृत्) to the deva-s (अमर-जन-), seen in the Kr̥ṣṇāvatāra (रङ्ग-अवतारे). May He protect (पातु) you (युष्मान्).
This beautiful verse from Kr̥ṣṇakarṇāmr̥ta describes the ways in which the various people saw Kr̥ṣṇa when he returned to Mathurā. The wrestlers saw a fellow-wrestler who towered over them. The rest of the crowd merely saw a child.
The ladies saw the God of Love, Manmatha himself. The cowherds there saw Him as another cowherd, a commoner amongst them. Indra who was witnessing the Kaṁsavadha saw the Immeasurable One. Afraid, Kaṁsa stared at his own Death angry at him, while the yogins saw the mūrti
that filled their heart in calmness and bliss as they meditated upon Him. Kr̥ṣṇa was seen by each according to their own inclinations.
रङ्ग-अवतारे can be understood in two ways: one is "in Kr̥ṣṇāvatāra" and the other is more situational, which is when Kr̥ṣṇa got into (-अवतारे) the field of wrestlers (रङ्ग-) in front of Kaṁsa.
