Dildaar - a daily wager living in Ghaziabad with around 40 other daily wagers from Jharkhand -
"Didi, jab tak hum jiyenge na, tab tak aapka naam lete rahenge. Bhukhe the hum 2 din se. Aap aese kara diye hain k 2 hafta aaram se khaenge"

"Didi, har ek insaan jisne bhi humari or hum jaise logo ki madad karayi hai, paise diye hain,hum kya bole aap bhagwan hain sab"
I just didn't know what to say. I had no words. All that I had done was to make calls and coordinate some on ground volunteers (the real volunteers)

It was dinner time and I had to eventually hang up but he kept talking.
He laughed and asked "Kya banaoge didi khane mein"
I asked him if he had his dinner.
He said "Nahi didi. Yaha na do teen aurten pet se hain. To hum soche hain k unhe zyada khilaye.

To hum din mein ek ya zyada se zyada do baar kha lenge taki un aurton ko de sake ache se or ye ration zyada time chale"
The call lasted for half an hour, during which he made me talk to his wife and children in Jharkand :)

While I was hanging up, filled with gratitude towards the donors & d volunteers risking their lives, I couldn't stop wondering - In d midst of this 1 hopeful moment, that came after many days of fatigue, what if we r unable to help when their stock finishes.

But up until then, thank you Dildaar. Thank you that despite your society failing you, you remained true to your name. "Dildaar"
