Hello guys!

Here's another hopefully helpful/educational thread on #COVID19 transmission & quarantining!

Few important points to be noted on the above topics to understand the situation better.

1) A-SYMPTOMATIC vs PRE -SYMPTOMATIC transmission

¤Asymptomatic transmission is when a laboratory confirmed patient with #COVID19 who DOES NOT develop the typical symptoms during the course of the infection transmits the virus to another person.

#AsymptomaticTransmission
¤ Even though the occurence of this phenomenon is currently found to be rare, Asymptomatic carriers will pose a significant challenge for the public health officials in tracing and curbing the spread of the virus.
This term can often be confused with Presymptomatic transmission.
¤ Presymptomatic transmission is when an infected person who will show the symptoms of #COVID19 usually within  the known incubation period of the virus, transmits it to another person BEFORE they develop the symptoms.

¤ Presymptomatic transmission is currently known to occur mostly between 1-3 days before the onset of the symptoms.

2) Quarantining is ideally done in groups of people who travelled together to the quarantine center. They should not be exposed to other groups of people who come at a later date to the center.

¤ 4 possible means of #COVID19 infection for the following patient

1- Patient infected during quarantine

2-Infected during transportation back to their home  https://twitter.com/AzzamAmeen/status/1246454075257835520?s=19
3- Acquired infection from his community after going home

4- Rare case with an unusually long incubation period that's greater than 14 days

¤ Latest national guidelines for #COVID19 by the Ministry of Health states that testing is only indicated for people who show symptoms of acute respiratory illness. Testing of asymptomatic patients for screening purposes is currently NOT recommended.  https://twitter.com/Amethystinia/status/1246465558301704193?s=19
