girl groups with lots of many members weren't that common in korea. the groups who debuted around snsd's time had around an average of five members. netizens referred to them as a "female super junior" & remarked that a girl group with many members would fail.

2) "bermuda triangle"

bermuda triangle refers to the deadly bermuda triangle where people get lost, so a bermuda triangle in a group are three members with exceptional visuals. this term was made for yoona, yuri, and seohyun.

3. photocards

this is pretty well known but the use of photocards in their album "oh!" is why everyone now fights for those little selfie cards

4) helped popularised girl groups

boy groups retained the public attention when they initially debuted but snsd's seemingly universal appeal and exceptional success, as well as the success of their counter parts, helped popularised girl groups exponentially
