Yesterday my middle school friend who is a doctor in Korea called me to suggest that my family should move back home from Tokyo. He said the virus is coming and it would be very bad here. I’ve been following intensely to the coronavirus coverage here and don’t disagree.
But it is very difficult to think clearly because don’t panic, don’t get upset; be calm, be nice is the mantra. Honestly if a pandemic doesn’t make you shout like a mad men then when?
Government should serve the people but here in Japan it feels like the people serves the government. So much energy is spent on defending fail policies, that a hope of a solution becomes an afterthought.
Abe saying I will not hesitate to enact a state of emergency is an ingenious deflective statement gear towards disheartening his critics.
Abe is a calmer version of Trump.
