OKAY Death Stranding thread that isn’t just a bunch of complaints about bad text size. Prolly spoilers eventually but I’ll try to keep it minimal. Also FYI it’s been over a year since I last played a console game.

I guessed Sam’s cool trike would be trashed before gameplay began and I was RIGHT.

Jaunting around the landscape was neat tho and I appreciate that there is a “I’m blind please highlight everything for me” button

Meet a dude and he starts going on about how no one can travel outside cities anymore and then an essential worker dies due to lack of PPE. Hmm.

This was not a great choice of game to play given my phobia of infants

I hope the likes I got from the people in that first city still count

Mission 1: deliver drugs
Mission 2: deliver the corpse of your own dead mother who is also the president of a nation that no longer exists to the crematorium on the other side of a mountain

Me, watching BTs walk around in cutscenes: haha it’s like a bunch of invisible people doing handstands
Me, having to deal with BTs in gameplay the first time: NOOOO I DUN WANNNAAAaa

I’m 90% sure I skipped half the first BT encounter because I got lost and opted to scale down a sheer cliff face

I choose to believe that america is a cratered wasteland and Canada is just a-ok to the north

I appreciate that you can just sit down at any time and do a little self care routine as a post-apoc essential worker

I also appreciate the many shower scenes of 3D norman reedus

I’m just having a good ol’ time finding parcels in the wilderness and delivering them to their destinations and then I find out the roaming ravagers are actually people who got addicting to making deliveries I FEEL ATTACKED

I made it through another BT zone without getting ganked, then when the threat of danger was all gone, got hurt by tripping on some goddamn stairs

NPC: We’re sending you a reward to thank you for all your hard work!
Me: pls be cool accessories pls be cool accessories
NPC: It’s four cases of bombs! :D
Me: ...thx but no

Me, next scene, regretting throwing away all 4 cases: [screaming in terror]

Feeling a little mixed about the online integration in the game. It’s very neat that you can see signs and structures made by other players! But I feel like it discourages from building my own since like, there’s SO MANY. Give and take, I guess.

Pizza delivery is essential, even in the apocalypse

I just realised a core mechanic of Death Stranding is basically a social distancing meter.

Side note, I did not appreciate how expressive the animation on the Odradek (shoulder sensor) is until seeing another major character with one. Sam& #39;s Odradek is energetic and friendly. The other guy& #39;s was so opposite I was more afraid of it than him.

Spoilers??? —— My first inclination was to throw it out the red zone outlined on the map and uh. That didn’t go well. But I can’t just fucking take it to its destination???? Aaaaaaaaaaa
