not me giving random skincare advice on twitter again
actually yes me giving skincare advice on twitter again. a thread:
DOUBLE CLEANSE. use an oil-based cleanser, like a cleansing balm, to remove oil-based impurities (makeup, sunscreen, sebum) before going in with a regular face wash to make sure your skin is actually clean! and no more makeup wipes, they’re bad for the environment and your face.
toners and essences aren’t ABSOLUTELY necessary but if you have the budget, time, and interest, do it!! look for alcohol and fragrance free toners to minimize skin irritation and sensitization.
please exfoliate. every so often, not every day. AHAs, BHAs, PHAs, and citric acids can all exfoliate! look for glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid. leave-on products are best, and for legal reasons I cannot recommend using a scrub, ever.
vitamin C can be a godsend for the skin in terms of firming and brightening, but it won’t be much good for acne (in fact, it tends to irritating any existing acne I have) great for acne scars though! best for daytime use, it helps sunscreen be more effective.
got acne? benzoyl peroxide (between 2-10%) and BHA/salicylic acid (between 1-2%) will help. AHAs (glycolic/lactic/etc) may help decrease surface-level clogged pores but will not be wildly effective against acne. and for oily-skin-hoes, thick creams and oils WILL clog your pores.
all-natural isn’t better :) don’t @ me, and don’t put essential oils on your face.
lastly, wear sunscreen. reapply at least 3 times throughout the day, more if you’re frequently sweating/constantly outdoors. otherwise you’ll age like milk and probably end up with skin cancer. I don’t make the rules
