Okay, it's cocktail-thirty all day every day, so let's talk booze!

A margarita is not margarita mix from a bottle and cheap tequila. A real margarita has four ingredients: Tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau or Triple Sec, and ice. That's it.
If you're doing anything else, you're not making a margarita. This is how you margarita, people...

2 oz. of tequila, blanco
1 oz. lime juice
1 oz Triple Sec or Cointreau

Shake with ice.

If you want salt, rub the rim of the glass with lime, then invert into a plate of salt.
Now, while we're drinking our ritas, we can argue over the origin. Who invented the margarita?

Was it Texas socialite Margarita Sames who first served it to guests at the family vacation home in Acapulco in 1948?
Was it Carlos "Danny" Herrera who created it in 1938 at his Baja restaurant?
Was it Francisco "Pancho" Morales in Juarez in 1942?
Was it Santos Cruz in 1948 at the Balinese Room in Galveston, named for Peggy Lee?
Experts say Pancho Morales has the best claim, but the truth is nobody knows for sure. ¡Salud! ¡Salud! ¡Salud!
