Unpopular Opinion (thread):

Right now, we have pundits on both sides cynically taking their frustrations out on folks like Dr. Birx & Dr. Fauci.

On the Left, the fact that Birx & Fauci don& #39;t join in propagandizing China& #39;s response, or crapping all over the US response,
2/11
means they MUST have suddenly turned into sycophantic boot-lickers. God forbid they say things like "We& #39;re taking this seriously," or "We acted quickly based on the information we had." On the Left, if you don& #39;t agree that everything Trump does is wrong, you& #39;re an enemy.
3/11
Just ask @TheEllenShow about all the op-eds following her highly controversial advice to "Be nice to each other, even those you disagree with." https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙄" title="Face with rolling eyes" aria-label="Emoji: Face with rolling eyes">

Or look at how @joerogan is being treated for pointing out what everyone already knows regarding the mental fitness of Biden.

On the Right, we have a bevy of pundits cynically directing anxiety, again, at Dr. Birx & Dr. Fauci, because they don& #39;t have answers about where the economy is going.

Are you watching these briefings? Been to the @CDCgov website? They& #39;re being incredibly transparent.
5/11
That transparency INCLUDES being open about lack of understanding. They can& #39;t tell us what they don& #39;t know. People are busting their assess, getting no sleep, to try and figure this thing out. When they know, we& #39;ll know.

You can& #39;t get blood from a turnip.
6/11
I respect a lot of these pundits, but when I hear them in the same breath say "No one knows anything" and "You need to give us models about what will happen a year from now!" I know that we& #39;re jumped shark.
7/11
This thread will probably be read by no one, maybe a few people. These pundits influence hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions. It& #39;s irresponsible to use your sphere of influence to add more chaos and more anxiety to the conversation. I& #39;m sorry, it just is.
8/11
Look, I get it. We& #39;re in uncharted territory. I don& #39;t know what& #39;s going to happen- none of us do. Screaming at the tv screen won& #39;t expedite the arrival of understanding. As normal folks, our options are very limited here. But generally, we can basically do three things:
9/11
1) Actively try to make things better.

2) Actively try to make things worse.

3) Indulge whatever anxiety or ambivalence we& #39;re feeling, with total disregard for any positive or negative effects that indulgence will have on the world around us.
10/11
For me, I choose option #1.

Focus on what you can control.
Help those around you.
Encourage each other.
Check on neighbors.
Catch up with friends.
DON& #39;T GET SUCKED INTO ECHO CHAMBERS.
Find ways to laugh.
Limit time on social media.
Exercise.
When in doubt, shut up.
11/11
We 100% will get through this, eventually. An important question to ask is whether we let it be yet another thing further dividing us, or a catalyzing force to heal and bring us together.

The answer to this question truly is one of the few things we *can* control.
