Alright folks, I played the game and beat it. And just for some context, I did not play the OG game, but I do know what takes place and all the story beats
This is game is by no means better than the RE2 remake we received last, but it’s also not a bad game by any means either

It works very well as a companion piece to that game and still captures the 90s action campiness and cheese that the series is known for while also being memorable in a lot of fun moments. First off, Jill Valentine is a the embodiment of one bad ass chick and that can’t be denied
She’s independent, headstrong, and just an all around awesome character. By the end of the game, I wanted to immediately restart it just to spend more time with her character. The other character, Carlos, that game spends time with is more of meathead..
But also has a really cool character moment where (SPOILERS) he finds out he’s been working for the bad guys. I loved seeing his anger and determination to save the day after he found that out. It was very cheesy but done really well.
Overall, this is RE2 but watered down in a lot of ways. RE2 - lite. That’s both good and bad. I can see where the OG fans might be disappointed. Nemesis isn’t much of a problem past the first section of the game and is more scripted during the 2nd half..
Whereas in the original he was on your ass the entire time. Relentless. But think of it, that worked well back in 1999, but I think it would’ve been a massive turnoff for a lot people if he had stayed on you throughout the whole game in this game.
I’ll get into it more on Raccoon City Radio regarding Nemesis. Overall, could this have been DLC for RE2 with a price tag of $30/$40? Probably, but the original was a standalone and so is this. I got my money’s worth and had a good time with it.
I don’t feel cheated that I beat the game in 8 and half hours. RE2 was like 10 and sure there’s 2 campaigns but I still feel satisfied. I took my time with RE3 and took in more of what I wanted to see and that was Raccoon City.
Last thing, there’s a moment in the last 10-15 mins with Jill that literally brought me to my feet. It was so badass and over the top and I loved it. I’m not joking when I say that I want to commission an artist to recapture that moment so I can put it on my wall
