Reflections from another week in the #COVID-19 ICU. 1/x
1. Extremely encouraging to learn more about this disease process and see some patients improve, get extubated, and discharged. Protocols are being refined and patients are benefitting.
2. As always, though, still much to learn. For all patients in the ICU, the road is long and hard. Very important to continue #SocialDistancing to #FlattenTheCurve. Prevention will always be the best cure.
3. This will clearly be a marathon, not a sprint. Will be important for programs and hospitals to plan accordingly to prevent provider emotional and physical burnout. Thanks to @NU_IntMed for making this a priority.
4. These are tough times for all. Little gestures go a long way. Thanks to @NorthwesternMed @NU_IntMed @NMPulmCritCare for all the support, and ensuring that we have adequate #PPE. Outstanding work being done by all @NorthwesternEM @NMHospMed @NMCardioVasc. #InThisTogether
