Folks, if I’ve told you once, I’ve told you 100 times: “Don’t throw away old wallpaper.” Cuz you might turn it over and find that it’s actually a Vicksburg newspaper, printed by Union troops when they took over the city. How AWESOME would that look on the wall of the kids’ room?!
When Union soldiers found the “newspaper” set to type on wallpaper, they added a sarcastic note about Grant dining in Vicksburg, and wrote: “It will be valuable hereafter as a curiosity.” And they were right -- Antiques Roadshow says it could be worth $5,000! #SaveYourWallpaper
(Fun fact: My neighbors always know when I’m watching soccer or Antiques Roadshow cuz it’s the only time they have to yell at me to “keep it down over there.”)
