The last few decades have witnessed the growth of an American-sponsored Internet open to all. But that was then; conditions have changed. Its crystal clear that the reality of then is changing, conditions are changing at an increasing rate
It's interesting to note that other great powers are contesting the American-Sponsored Internet and it leadership by constantly pushing their own national priorities and the real power is concentrated in the hands of a few private take giants
With self interested plans and choices that pose consequences to the world around them. We are in unprecedented times and its the start of a new world, new powers, new systems and new voices. We are no doubt in the beginning of a NEW WORLD, start prepping for that REALITY
Adam Segal paints d big picture well. “The Internet has long been an American project,” he writes. “Yet today, the United States has ceded leadership in cyberspace to China.” What will happen if Beijing continues its online ascent? “The Internet will be less global and less open.
A major part of it will run Chinese applications over Chinese-made hardware. And Beijing will reap the economic, diplomatic, national security, and intelligence benefits that once flowed to Washington.”
Guys its the beginning of the end of many things, the revelation of the weakness of strength, the powerlessness of the powerful and the voicelessness of the loudest. Its a new world we must be prepared to start living in, least we're left in the old world.
