Ever find yourself in a job posting "black hole" w no return on ur efforts? I have an "unconventional" solution called, in our biz, "reverse MPC (most placeable candidate) marketing", in this case, YOU.
Here's how it works..
Step 1) Create a "Search Universe" of target Companies.
This presumes u know your skillset, have a resume, ref's, etc. & also know precisely where you want to live & where you fit, perfectly, in your discipline, & Industry Sector.
Google & LinkedIn are ur friends. 20 will do.
Step 2) Populate Search Universe
Fill a Data Base/Contact Mgr/CRM (ACT has integration w Office Suite, no I don't have an interest). Outlook will suffice but something with "funnels" & graphs is perhaps infinitely better to help you manage your upcoming campaign. Use LinkedIn &

80-90% of professionals have a profile of some kind. It's a total goldmine.
How 2: If you're already "Linkedin" w everyone in ur 2nds & 3rds in your chosen S.U., ur good. If not, pick out ppl who r NOT

who r NOT from among your list of 20 companies, or 40 companies (don't try more than 50 total). Why? Because we're not yet ready to ALERT them, particularly if the S.U. may reside outside your existing network, albeit perhaps as 2nd's & 3rd's already.

No, as you look through LinkedIn, send out invites to ppl among closely related industries ie: trades, contractors that ENVELOPE your chosen Search Universe. Do NOT send a note but just standard invite, why? For them it's a gambit, even if they don't know u

They are, particularly these days, likely to just accept it automatically without ignoring & then clicking on "I don't know Bob" the # of which @LinkedIn are quite liberal in allowing & who MAY stretch it a little further (without forcing them to req email)

Whereas, if you ad a custom intro note, if they don't know you, you're introducing other variables unnecessarily ( @ScottAdamsSays).
When any mere two or three (if over 500 connections) accept your invite - you're "Linked-In!" & voila that whole network pulls everyone into
your 2nds & 3rds from among your target companies, with none of that hidden "LinkedIn member" returns you would have gotten otherwise. If S.U. involves a physical relocation, just use the Filter feature on LinkedIn.
NOW you're ready to populate your Search Universe & Database
Q&A But what if I don't have an existing LinkedIn profile?
A: Either make one while brushing up your resume, or for now, just rely on the info you're able to gather from their websites including in most cases, a listing of the company's leadership! That's the other half!

By now anxiety if probably already building in many regarding the "end game" here of actually contacting all the target hiring managers in ur S.U.. Fear not! That comes later. Your creation & populating of your S.U. is FUN!

It's FUN! Doesn't require that you reach out to them, yet, maybe in a week or two when this project is all wound up like a coiled spring! Key: This is ACTUALLY the "heavy lifting" in conducting this reverse MPC marketing search camp
FILL SEARCH UNIVERSE WITH DATA & INFO
For still MORE "phone avoidance behavior" (what we Headhunters call it), take the time to copy-paste over vital pieces of info. from the company websites, LinkedIn profiles, company news items you could cite when making contact, etc, mor FUN!
Step 3) Prep for human-2-human contact (with Social distancing recco's in place of course).
Obtain everyone's CELL PHONE #, by calling into their reception (with many co.s still functional) & asking for it (without explaining why) & EMAIL ADDRESS or 1stnm.lastnm@coname.com prtcl
Step 5) Imagine, & CREATE, your human2hhuman, person-2-person MPC (you) Marketing Campaign. DO NOT spam email it! Mistake!
Instead, think about your intro, putting yourself in their shoes & how authentic it needs to be to have the desired impact? Try different approaches.
TIP
Step 6) DATE W DESTINY. Pick a Date for EXECUTING on your campaign to get in touch with all these people while working referrals among them. Now (these days) is the IDEAL time to be doing this. People are ripe for ACTION, any action! You will be, on the whole, very well received.
Step 7) Looking for a Job IS a Job! And it's FUN!
If you can put in a few hours a day on your campaign for up to 30 days, with wkends off, while running the whole thing through your contact manager on computer & phone if/when/as needed (there's an app for ACT) - you WILL succeed!
Extra Notes

Note how you are not applying to/FOR a "job" (necessarily) & that you are now @ CAUSE in terms of who you CHOOSE to work for & with?!

You don't NEED any job! They, the company, need YOU to do what you do best as TALENT! If A says no, onto Co. B! On to C. etc.

TIP! Cont'd If you r the least bit anxious re: the execution phase of ur Campaign - while building your S.U. of Co.'s - be sure to add a few that you're not nearly as interested in, prioritize your list from top 2 bottom best to worst, & START @ THE BOTTOM until u get into it! 😆

Be careful though or you might be suprised 2 discover that the DREAM job u were wanting might have been among the firms you started with that you didn't care about! God often works in mysterious ways. Serendipity will flow 4 u if ur moving... >
Final thought.
If you say move somewhere & find yourself with the wrong company or people (God forbid) - you'll be PERFECTLY positioned to move to one of their competitors in the same region!
Non-competes don't hold water mostly since ppl r FREE to render their services 2 any1.
