A question & poll for fellow qualitative scholars: Do you recommend qualitative grad students do the 3-paper dissertation or the “book draft” option? I did the latter, but have been on committees that encourage the former. #AcademicChatter #academictwitter #phdchat

I also often encourage students to do the 3-paper option for reasons mentioned already in this thread. But it’s hard for me to imagine someone doing a big ethnography and then turning it into a 3-paper model.
