Ppl really don't know about and don't gaf about indigenous communities and how corona is impacting us.

My community borders the Phoenix metro area to the south, the entire city. I live in a village that's literally a few minutes walk to the city.
The difference between here and there is soooo.....it's totally different worlds.

Our tribal governor put out a stay-at-home executive order. It's for a reason.

I'd say at least 90% of our community is immunocompromised.
As far as I know, corona cases at tribal facilities and Indian health service facilities are not tracked by the cdc, these facilities can only self report.
So y'all really don't know how many cases there are and how many deaths within tribal communities. Unless of course it's the Navajo Nation and that's really horrific. I just can't.
I, like many other community members, watch our tribal governor report on Corona everyday on FB. There's more cases every single day. The other day there were 12 total.
There's a new freeway that goes right along our boundary line at south mountain. On one side of the freeway at the mountain is a city and the other is the rez. Guess who has a protective wall on their side? And guess who has had the cleanest air until this damn thing was built?
So more indigenous people, particularly the ones in my community, with more health problems. It's all for a reason.
And do y'all know where a lot of our indigenous ppl are? Jail.

My 13 yo is in a facility w/ majority Black and brown youth and there's a lot of indigenous kids in there.
They live there, they go to school there, they do everything there. There's still school for them even tho AZ has canceled school the rest the year. They can't social distance.
You know where else our indigenous youth are? In foster care. My 10 yo is in a home with 10 other kids, 5 of em are from our tribe. How they social distancing there?
And where are their parents? In jail and in immunocompromised tribal communities.

We are not talking about immunocompromised individuals, we are talking entire immunocompromised tribal communities.
And also, those other 5 kids in a foster home w/ my Black Native 10 yo? They're Black. This impacts Black communities just as much.
This is what I'm talking about. https://twitter.com/NPR/status/1246469666190524416?s=19
A lack of running water. 40% of the NN lack running water.

Tribal communities lack access to adequate sources of water. Oh we on boil status again? Oh E. coli in the water again?
A lot of people don't have electricity, proper refrigeration, proper appliances, they cook outside, moldy leaky roofs.
Corona finds a home in marginalized populations. Tribal communities are one of the main ones.
