8 clubs allegedly wrote to CAS asking them to ensure City's CL ban wasn't suspended, even though City haven't asked for it to be. And even though City might be cleared of wrongdoing and get the ban overturned when CAS hear the case. Burnley & Liverpool were 2 of those clubs
They presumably support the FFP and its ridiculous rule that restrict a club's owner from investing their own money into their club. They also presumably agree with the objective of FFP that clubs must be financially sustainable. But are they practicing what they preach?
Burnley said they might suffer a huge loss if the season doesn't restart, as nearly all their revenue (87%) comes from TV money. That doesn't sound very sustainable to me. More like putting all your eggs in one basket. City only get about 30%of their revenue from domestic TV.
And then there's Liverpool, owned by a billionaire, who are seemingly in need of government hand-outs to pay the lowest paid of their employees, who are probably earning less than £10m a year between them. So that's maybe £2m for the furlough period or 3 days of players wages.
If they're seriously unable to pay that £2m then maybe they're not that financially sustainable either. So the clubs screaming for FFP to be rigidly enforced, regardless of the notion of natural justice, appear to be hypocrites. But we knew that anyway, didn't we.
