Realized I’ve only seen 12 of the 22 Pixar movies. Gonna do a watch-through in release order and see how I’d rank them. Here’s how I’m predicting my ranks will be based on what I’ve seen and what I know of the ones I’ve missed. Will update as I go on here.
The carpet in the hallways of Sid’s house is the carpet in the hallways of The Shining!
Toy Story has a lot of cool references I’d never noticed before. Star Wars, The Shining, etc. It’s aged fairly well, but I think the second half of the movie drags a decent amount. Overall, still a classic.
Rankings so far:
1. Toy Story

Wait so.. Is A Bug’s Life like.... a metaphor for paying taxes or something?? Lol.
A Bug’s Life is not nearly as rewatchable as Toy Story but finishes very strongly. Secretly a commentary on social classes and the people taking back the power
. Still, not on the same tier as many other Pixars, but completely fine.
Current ranks:
1. Toy Story
2. A Bug’s Life

Current ranks:
1. Toy Story
2. A Bug’s Life
Toy Story 2 is not on the same tier as the original and lacks any sort of interesting plot for adults compared to A Bug’s Life. I don’t like much with Jessie or The Prospector. Bullseye rules and Woody’s refurbishing scene is awesome.
1. Toy Story
2. A Bug’s Life
3. Toy Story 2

Immediately from the opening credits, Monsters Inc. feels more like a Pixar movie than any of the three previous ones.
Monsters, Inc. fires on all cylinders the whole time. Emotional, hilarious, creative, cool concept, fully realized unique world. Feels like a major leap from the first three Pixar entries.
1. Monsters, Inc.
2. Toy Story
3. A Bug’s Life
