It is hard for black fans to find a place in fandoms. We get left out, verbally abused, and told our opinions don’t matter just because of our skin color. We find others who are like us who are less likely to discriminate against us and we cling together. (1)
We make gcs because were so used to being ignored in a gc where “everyone is welcomed” or our jokes not being related to because theyre too “ratchet” or “ghetto”. We cant make simple thirst jokes w/o being told that we wouldn’t be loved because “oppa doesnt like dark skin” (2)
All black fans are open to non black fans, every black fan ive met is kind and funny and beautiful but I cant say every non black friend has been friendly to me or some of my friends. (3)
We have to think we r the shit because who else is going to? We have to love our bodies because no one else does. We have to place our place in the community for us. LGBTQ+ fans have a space, *insert nationality* fans have a space, so ask yourself why can’t black fans too (4)
