Hey- a brief little rant about how we talk about #Covid19AB & "pre-existing conditions." When a woman in her 20s in Alberta dies, and all the questions on here, #ableg, facebook, reddit, news sites etc. are about her having pre-existing conditions... it's kind of awful to read 1/
You know, as a woman, in her 20s, with pre-existing conditions. Surprise! I've been isolating because of symptoms (I'm fine). But also because if I get this, it could be hella dangerous. And I'm not really the person who would come to mind as "high risk." 2/
When y'all talk about how this virus "only kills old people and people with pre-existing conditions," it makes those of us with said conditions, who are functioning, happy, contributing members of society, feel pretty damned disposable. 3/
ALSO. Do you know what can count as underlying health concerns? Not just my own asthma. But being overweight. Smoking. A myriad of other extremely common factors. Many, many undiagnosed. Which, shocker, could be you! 4/
So by brushing folks concerns off or showing relief over deaths "only" or "mostly" happening to those with health conditions, it can come across as some sort of moral superiority because you think you are healthy.

So please. STFU with the "thankfully only those w/" nonsense 5/
/end rant
