This is what years of modi making everything about himself has done! We aren’t ‘his’ people? He’s not like our ‘family member’ and we aren’t criticising ‘him’. Him and the entire legislative assembly have been elected under our mandate and given the responsibility to serve this
country. I acknowledge these are unprecedented times but democratic accountability/criticism and demands from various stakeholders become even more critical at this point and we shouldn’t more than ever accept blindly what is going on. And this isn’t limited to modi but all state
govs and private corporations. And that’s what has been happening! If the central government is presented to us as a one man show-that’s the one man who is going to get the flak. Secondly this idea that don’t criticise him becasue you yourself wouldn’t be able to do a better
job and you don’t know the pressure he’s under. I mean that’s how we’d talk about a friend or family member whose feelings we’d be afraid to hurt. That’s not the relationship a prime minister and the government shares with its citizens! I don’t even wanna get into the
substantives but really it’d be great if citizens are not treated like foolish children who don’t know what’s going on and it’d be even better if so many people in our country will stop falling for that kind of paternalism.
