Great Blue Hole

#FunFact: It's the largest blue hole (in terms of rim distance) in the world & is 127m deep.
Dean's Blue Hole
- The Bahamas, not Bahamas

#FunFact: Though much smaller (in terms of rim size) than the Great Blue Hole, it is deeper at 202m and was, until the discovery of China's Dragon Hole very recently, the deepest blue hole in the world.

Andros Island

#FunFact: With over 200 known blue holes (between land & sea), this island (the 5th largest in the Caribbean) is home to the world's highest concentration of blue holes.
Belize Barrier Reef

#FunFact: The Belize Barrier Reef is the second-largest barrier reef in the world. It's also home to the Great Blue Hole
Salto de la Jalda
- Dominican Republic

#FunFact: It's the tallest waterfall in the Caribbean at 120m tall.
Cockpit Country
- Jamaica

#FunFact: It's home to many endemic animal & plant life as well as about 40% of Jamaica's exploitable water resources. It's one of the most spectacular examples of cockpit karst (group of hills separated by star-shaped valleys) topography in the world.
Andros Barrier Reef
The Bahamas, not Bahamas

#FunFact: It's the third-largest fringing barrier reef in the world and is often touted as the third-largest organism in the world.
Puerto Rican Trench
- Puerto Rico

#FunFact: This area is the home to the deepest depth of the entire Atlantic Ocean and plummets to more than 8,400m below the surface of the ocean.
Bahía Bioluminiscente
- Puerto Rico (Vieques)

#FunFact: This area has the highest concentration of protozoa that glow when disturbed in the world and makes for a spectacular night-time display.
Mount Pelée
- Martinique

#FunFact: At ~1,400m tall, this volcano claimed the lives of almost 30k people when it erupted in 1902. It completely destroyed the city of St. Pierre, known as Paris of the Caribbean. The eruption was the worst volcanic eruption of the 20th Century.
Pitch Lake
- Trinidad & Tobago

#FunFact: Pitch Lake on the island of Trinidad is the largest natural deposit of asphalt on the earth holding 10mil tonnes of tar. The 'lake' itself is 95acres large and is ~75m deep.
Bosque Nacional El Yunque
- Puerto Rico

#FunFact: Very biologically diverse, it's the oldest forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere & the largest rainforest in the Caribbean. The Taíno believed that El Yunque (a mountain in the forest) was the throne of their chief god Yúcahu.
Boiling Lake
- Dominica

#FunFact: Boiling Lake, just outside of the country's capital, is the second-largest hot lake in the world.
Sulphur Springs
- St. Lucia

#FunFact: Apart of the larger Soufrière Volcanic Centre, it is regarded as the world's only "drive-in" volcano as there are roads which take you directly to the volcano. The Soufrière Volcanic Centre is also home to St. Lucia's Gros & Petit Pitons.
Pekelmeer
- Bonaire

#FunFact: Dutch for "salt lake", Pekelmeer is one of the few places in the world where the Caribbean Flamingo breeds. It's one of the island’s main saltwater lakes & covers 68.5 km sq. Waters often look pink due to an abundance of brine shrimp in the water.
Lucayan National Park
- The Bahamas, not Bahamas

#FunFact: This preserve on the island of Grand Bahama is home to parts of one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world. While the park itself is only 40acres, two of the cave system's entrances can be found here.
Pico Duarte
- Domincan Republic

#FunFact: At over 3,000m tall, Pico Duarte is the tallest mountain in the Caribbean. It's found in the Cordillera Central mountain range & is the highest range in the Caribbean. A bust of Juan Duarte, Dominican founding father, is atop the summit.
Lago Enriquillo
- Dominican Republic

#FunFact: At 46m below sea level, this salt lake in the Dominican Republic (the Caribbean's largest lake) is the lowest point found on any island in the world. It's home to the Caribbean's largest number of American crocodiles.
Cayman Trough
- Cayman Islands & Jamaica

#FunFact: The Cayman Trough is the deepest point of the Caribbean Sea at almost 8,000m deep. Making it one of the deepest points of the Atlantic Ocean as well. Here, the hottest & deepest known black smoking hydrothermal vents are found.
