There are two false and harmful assumptions many Christians hold about women: 1) They all want to usurp male authority, (stemming from a faulty interpretation of Genesis 3:16) and 2) They are all easily deceived (a faulty interpretation of 1 Tim 2:14). (1n)

Because of these assumptions, many women are viewed with suspicion and their gifts are squandered in the church and their concerns about abuse in the church are frequently ignored. This has to stop.
