The CDC is now recommending masks in public settings like grocery stories and pharmacies.

The president says nah.

So without further ado, here's "how to make a mask from a t-shirt (without a sewing machine!)"—by my mom, who is smarter and much prettier than the president.
What you'll need:

- Cotton polyester blend tee (best fabric to use for a barrier while still being breathable and comfortable)
- Sewing needle and thread
- A good attitude for maximum enjoyment but also an impending sense of doom to speed up the process
- A glass of wine
Cut the tee as pictured! Cut off both sleeves for the base of the masks, and the bottom hem and armpit seams into two equal pieces each for adjustable straps.
Sewing time!

- Sew the sides of the shoulder sleeves together twice (seam will be on the outside of the mask)
- Sew bottom hem straps to bottom of mask
- Sew armpit straps to top part of mask
- Sew side parts of mask closed
IMPORTANT! Pinch ~1/4 inch sections of fabric at the top of the mask and sew them together to make sure the mask sits flush against your face.
Adjust the fit! Try on the mask and consider whether to shorten the straps. If you prefer a tighter fit, you can also fold the lower half of the mask outward.
That's it! These take no time at all, are breathable and pretty much as safe as you can get using household materials. Here's a picture of my hot mom dancing during pre-quarantine times, to close things out.
