something different about reading books vs articles or "long" essays. writers get to take their time, dive deep into research and expand on topics in a way that's much more impactful (to me) than these random posts you see otherwise
in january, i read Boys Among Men. the stuff about KG, kobe, and calipari stood out, but great look at the high school to nba players, their various outcomes, and the uncomfortable but "profitable" relationship between prep, college, and nba
LOL been trying to read that book off and on for 3-4 years. finally did in january. #growth my attention span sucks, so sitting down to read a physical book was a challenge, but has helped a lot
in february, i read "Customer Success: How Innovative Companies Are Reducing Churn and Growing Recurring Revenue".......highly work-related, but if you're involved in a customer- or client-facing role in any capacity, there are a lot of applicable tips.
"stealing" the ideas and taking them to my own company meetings for implementation was pretty funny. whatever. sometimes you reach a plateau in terms of strategy or new ideas. reading a book or two doesn't replace networking with experienced ppl, but it closes the gap a bit
in March, i finished "The Warmth of Other Suns"......i don't know if this is the best time or worst time to have read this, but it was phenomenal and explains America in a way few historical texts do
many things in the book hit home b/c pretty much all of my extended family lives in or is from Georgia and Florida. anyway, the book covers a lot. if you still struggle understanding the through line of slavery to the current times, this book is basically required reading
and of course, The Struggle Continues
the book for April is "Unsportsmanlike Conduct: College Football and the Politics of Rape"

i picked the books to read each month back in Dec. a bit "lighter" read of after "Warmth" would be good 😂. diving back into the sports world will be a change of pace
reading is FUNdamental.....i'm old enough to remember those corny commercials
anyway read some books. i have a list of about 15 (3 down!) i'll get through by the end of the year (probably much sooner now). if you've got something interesting you're reading, please share!
