1. Let& #39;s get one thing straight guys, the human race has never battled a virus effectively in morden times without a vaccine. Viruses generally have a high mutation rate and vaccines are our best chance.
2. I appreciate the skepticism around vaccine trials by major global companies in Africa as there have been reasonably questionable practices. But here is the thing guys, Africa has enough talent and the resources to put together its own vaccine research.
3. There are eminent drug developers on the continent e.g. Kelly Chibale @UCT_news and even some of our local people have that talent. https://www.ft.com/content/5541440c-38ff-11e9-b856-5404d3811663">https://www.ft.com/content/5...
4. The reason why we end up as consumers is that for many African nations, we fail to invest enough in science and don& #39;t support science research that brings positive outcomes. So when push comes to shove we are found wanting.
5. Technology has helped us favorably and we have the human capital to do it. The question then comes, why then are behind? It is simple: lack of leadership. Science thrives when supported.
6. Unless we put the talent to work we will always be outraged about trials done on our people online, and then go back to waiting for the same nations to send drugs. Are we not tired of just sitting and waiting? What has YOUR nation done to develop its own drugs?
7. Zimbabwe can& #39;t even make paracetamol
