if talking about race makes you uncomfortable, then unfollow me. To ignore race would erase everything my fellow poc have fought for centuries. I will not ignore anyone’s race. To talk about race is to sympathize with one another’s humanity. Yes, whites, that means you too.

Talking about race and not being afraid to talk about race has shown me a lot of things in my life. I get why it makes people uncomfortable but it’s still a part of reality and we can’t turn a blind eye to something that holds a lot of weight to someone’s outlook on life -

simply bc it makes you uncomfortable. If you’re white, your outlook on life will NEVER be like mine, and vice versa. You weren’t berated by other kids being a called a beaner and border hopper when you didn’t even speak Spanish. You were more likely the one doing it.

Not saying you were!! Just saying that kids are stupid and mean on purpose but as you grow, you learn to not be afraid of the unknown and chances are, you probably didn’t grow up to hate brown people if you follow me on here. But regardless, you still have that privilege.

The point is that I’ve seen the “I’m not racist” white perspective and I’m not a fan. Race is something none of us can control. But being of the white race grants you access to many more walks of life than I could ever dream and you know who made it that way? White people.

You are not one of us. You can be an ally but you will never be one of us. The desperate attempts to fit in with us will almost always fail. Why? Bc white skin holds more power than you’ll ever know. I love my white friends and anyone who is willing to understand that simple fact

I don’t “hate” white people. I hate that their skin is still considered better than mine. I hate that we aren’t truly equals. Your privilege saves you from the lifelong torment that is racism. It is never your skin that is being attacked. But it is always your privilege.

If you think I’m racist for pointing out YOUR privilege, you might want to point that finger at yourself. You can’t say you’re one of us while you wear the golden ticket that is your skin. Check yourself, before I do. Because I will not be nice about it.

I may be an asshole but I treat everyone with respect and I don’t tolerate disrespect. My life is different from those of my friends of many races and I will not ignore that. To ignore their race would be to ignore one the main things that makes us human.
