The first thing to understand when you want to have a meaningful conversation with someone is that everyone approaches any subject from their own level of perception. It doesn't make what they are saying any more or less true.. It just means that their outlook is coloured by
their own life experiences.
The second thing to understand.. Is that their views do not threaten your own. They can say what they believe and why. And you can state yours.. Without it dissolving into a shouting match.. Or being fraught with insults. No one's views are less valid
than anyone else's
Thirdly.. You don't always have to part in agreement on everything. People can leave with their own beliefs intact.. And still as the best of friends. Why? Because it is possible to entertain an idea without accepting it.
The hustle to change everyone into
us and make them see things our way because our way is the "right way" is the root of many ethnic and religious fights. Bigotry is sometimes not aware that this is what it is.
As long as people are not promoting hatred, strife, bigotry, abuse or suppressing another person's
Human Rights... And they are hurting no one.. Allow them carry their own views.. As they go on life's journey, they may become more enlightened.. So may even you. Nobody is right all the time. And who is to say they are wrong and you are right, anyway?
The loudest person is not
always right.. And doesn't always have the best argument. Learn to listen.
