Here’s a thread/breakdown of @GovParsonMO stay-at-home order:
“Individuals currently residing within the state of MO shall avoid leaving their homes”
- As stated in briefing last night, he’s been suggesting this for weeks. This is no different than his social distancing order

“All individuals in the state of Missouri shall avoid social gatherings of more than ten (10) people.”
-Again this is the exact same as his social distancing order that’s been in place for 2 weeks.

“All public and charter schools must remain closed for the duration of the Order.”
- This is also the same. It simply extends the duration schools must remain closed. Original order was set to expire April 6

“Any entity that does not employ individuals to perform essential worker functions, as set forth in guidance provided by the federal government, shall adhere to the limitations on social gatherings and social distancing.”
-This is the most important, IMO.

This portion of @GovParsonMO stay-at-home order allows nonessential businesses to remain in operation, so long as there are >10 people. This essentially makes the stay-at-home order the same as his previous social distancing order.
. @GovParsonMO allows local officials to make the call if they’d like to strengthen those restrictions (ie close nonessential businesses altogether). But this still requires local officials to make those calls/puts the responsibility on mayors, county execs, etc.
Now here’s what makes the SAH order different:
Essential businesses must limit # of people based of occupancy codes. “25% or less of entity’s authorized fire or building code” for location less than 10k sq. ft.
10% or less for any larger building.

. @GovParsonMO order changes nothing for nonessential businesses, but limits occupancy in essential businesses. He says this is because essential businesses have become “hot beds” for the virus.
In his briefing last night @GovParsonMO said “my order goes further than any directive in the state.” Not sure what he means here? It’s my understanding both urban and small communities have closed nonessential businesses... (I’ll be asking in briefing today).
. @GovParsonMO did not take a single question last night. I did not get the language of the order until after his briefing @ 5pm. I have so many questions for our governor as to why this was handled this way, but I still can’t ask them in real time
Missourians need to have clear communication & instructions. I feel a bit “duped” by the announcement last night TBH. There are very few differences from his original SD order. I’ll be sending in several ?s. I don’t expect them all to be answered, but MOians deserve transparency
