So I'm going to use a dude as an example. Sorry, @prodreamer1, but you are an example an onslaught of poor armchair science.

Currently, this "retired MD" is going at me with evidence of #Hydroxychloroquine 's efficacy against covid.

His timeline demonstrates the problem.
/1
Camostat on march 6, a host-targeting drug that is used in pancreatitis and may show benefit.

/2
Remdesivir on March 2

/3
Steroids on Feb 18

/4
So what's the problem? Why not use all of them? Well, in the case of every single one of these treatments, side effects, unknown effects, and combination effects are possible.

Many clinical trials are currently underway. **This is appropriate**

/5
The timeline also shows pro-trump, anti-democrat, one of the odder side effects of Trump recommending a drug. Likely bias is coming into play here.

/6
He also displays all of the characteristics of a #Hydroxychloroquine "advocate":

* Unqualified at critical analysis of papers
* Making medical recommendations on twitter
* Filtering out evidence that is negative and in evidence that is positive
* Anonymous account

/7
The most reasonable scientific position is the Fauci position:

All use of these drugs should be:
A) as part of a clinical trial
B) under close medical supervision
C) using all of the policies of experimental treatments

/8
It is *not* a reasonable scientific position at present to recommend everyone with COVID-19 gets any of these treatments.

**This is inappropriate**

/9
Why did I pick this account to highlight the lack of scientific principles, bias, and premature recommendations?

A) as a retired MD I hold him to a standard of public reputation

B) every time I post about HCQ I get many like him

C) it's fair to call out public posts
And please, do not harrass this person. He is making mistakes that many many many people make. They are human mistakes of inexperience and bias.

This is not intended to be a pileon, its intended to be a teaching moment using someone who wants their ideas public.
