Maybe it's just because I'm one of those suckers who have spent a ridiculous amount of money on Red Bull since teenagehood but I don't agree. Most football teams are selling something other than football through football these days. Red Bull is not an offender outside the norm. https://twitter.com/MarcadorInt/status/1246439378534178818
The Quatari and the Emirati are trying to open up the Europeans' perceptions of the middle East through PSG & Manchester City. Barcelona associates itself with the independence movement in Cataluña. Milan is straight up owned by a hedge fund these days.
The days of football clubs owned by members who elect presidents through elections are long gone at the highest level. The American model won a long time ago and it didn't start with Red Bull. If anything, I prefer that Red Bull sells a product over other interests. It's cleaner.
Plus, all of Red Bull's sporting ventures are extremely well managed from a competitive standpoint. It's not as if they just care about the logo and disregard the winning ideal. If anything, they tend to be better structured because they are overseen by a corporation.
