The extent to which Sanders' hardcore online supporters like King are part of an us-versus-them (with other Democrats as "them") tribal affiliation all but guarantees that the core beliefs of the tribe will end up being mostly unpopular or bad ideas. https://twitter.com/nberlat/status/1246292332611330048
I did a thread about this back when a brief disagreement emerged about utility nationalization between Warren and Sanders during a debate. Suddenly every Sanders supporter HAD TO support utility nationalization like it was the most important issue in the world.
The stuff you have to agree with to prove your loyalty to the Sanders tribe is the stuff no one else agrees with. Or the thing you have to believe like Shaun apparently does is that an idea like M4A has no non-Sanders supporters to the extent you're badgering the bills cosponsors
Sanders himself doesn't act this way and I think the campaign realized (too late) that so many supporters and surrogates adopting this posture was making it impossible to close the deal on the nomination.
