As a mixed race girl I’m not gonna get involved in this argument. I’d just like to bring up one time a boy asked me “does your mum bleach her skin... because she married a white man”
Are u seeing how disrespectful that is
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😭" title="Loudly crying face" aria-label="Emoji: Loudly crying face">. My mum is a beautiful dark skin woman who just happened to marry someone white
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷🏽♀️" title="Woman shrugging (medium skin tone)" aria-label="Emoji: Woman shrugging (medium skin tone)">. She definitely does NOT have any self hatred for her skin colour
So with this Dave situation, with all his support and appreciation he’s given to his own community you cannot come and criticise him for this.
The definition of “pro black” is another argument though which I am not getting into. My point is that when you have pure intentions for your community and are comfortable in your skin, whoever you end up with does NOT come from a place of self hatred
Thanks for coming to my TED talk
PS: this thread does not undermine any issues around colourism. That’s another argument
