I used to love football. Really love it. All I’d think about every hour of the day. Be playing it, watching it, listen on radio, and talking about it. Quizzing your school mates.
Obviously one gets older, it becomes less important. But it’s a constant love. Sometimes you dip out, then dive back in. You meet lifelong mates. Football on pitch becomes more a vehicle to keep social connections. It’s the currency that keeps us together.
The last 10 years? Football increasingly hard to love. Not the game WE grew up with. It’s different. Commercialised.
At grass roots, school pitches gone / sold. No inter school games. Local council pitches no longer a financial priority for LA’s.
All the while the rich get richer. Even small professional clubs go bust, let alone amateurs. It’s still not enough. They want more, consume more. Give less.
This though. Right now. Fuck me. (The richest clubs in the world)Taking tax payers money - money we desperately need to support the poorest, to keep people alive.

Taking it away from them. From desperate families who have lost jobs.
It absolutely and utterly sickens me to the fucking core.

But yeah, let’s fly everyone to China in a month to get business rolling again. Hopefully get the tax payer to chip in.
