For those of you who remain clueless & think you are young and immune. A thread on Covid 19. In my attempts to help a friend in Dallas, I got to another friend that went to Texas. A 43 year old father of two who said he never took a prescription in his life incredibly healthy 1/2
/2 he traveled a lot for work and when the news hit. Immediately quarantined. At first, the symptoms were runny nose, Bowel movements, extreme body aches. It escalated. A spike in fever rapidly changing to hypothermia. Intubated in ICU. Organs shutting down. He almost died 2/2
/4 he was lucky enough to receive the experimental doses of chlorquine, a z pack & blood thinners and made a full recovery. He reached out to help our friend as a fully recovered Covid 19 patient hoping to do his part. Our dilemma? We need B+ because he needs plasma therapy. 4/4
/5 I’m told 8 percent of the population fits that need and even if we found them in Dallas the hospitals are prioritizing making it hard to do a direct donor. I bring all this up bc the theme of the convo was “I get so mad seeing people not take this seriously who are young”
/5 “I drive by Katy Trail and it’s packed”. He hated that he couldn’t help but is passionately ready to help the next one who needs plasma from his O blood but said “people have to take this seriously” it was scary and enlightening
