Ok, reading this for the 3rd time. In MI, state’s population is 14% black, African American& #39;s are 35% of cases + 40% of deaths as of Friday morning. Detroit, has emerged as a hot spot with a high death toll. Same in NOLA, IL, NC. https://www.propublica.org/article/early-data-shows-african-americans-have-contracted-and-died-of-coronavirus-at-an-alarming-rate?utm_source=pardot&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=majorinvestigations">https://www.propublica.org/article/e...
Few states are collecting or sharing racial data. But here& #39;s the kicker!
Experts say that the nation’s unwillingness to publicly track the virus by race could obscure a crucial underlying reality: It’s quite likely that a disproportionate number of those who die of coronavirus will be black.
@CDCgov tracks virulent outbreaks and typically releases detailed data that includes information about the age, race + location of the people affected. For the coronavirus pandemic, the CDC has released location and age data, but it has been silent on race.
