[THREAD] @Conv_Citoyenne is currently having a complementary session to discuss link #COVID19 & #ClimateChange. Experimentation in real time: use of digital tools for deliberation, how to adapt democratic practices to #SocialDistancing?
Initial thoughts on tools:
- Zoom might not be the best tool for these practices, besides the privacy concerns, some research on UX is needed.
- One tool for all usages? or a mix of tools? How to vote, discuss, chat, co-write and listen at the same time?
Big problem of accessibility and skills:
- some members are using SMS and phone, others using Zoom, problems of bandwith, uneven digital skills -> frustration.
- Complicated exercise, requires lot of attention, good material, good connection and patience.
We can all learn from these experimentations:
- cross research between all institutions using digital tools during #COVID19
- best practices, tool sharing, guides, FAQs, feedback
- tech community needed for adapted, ethical and shareable tools
In any case, one conclusion: citizens are very motivated, want to pursue their civic responsability even with technical difficulties and social distancing. Big bravo to organizers and participants of @Conv_Citoyenne for patience and motivation 🙌
