In case it's useful to others, here is how I'm running my online seminar:
* Zoom mtg, max 300 attendees
* Registration required
* 35 min talk, clarifying ?s only; 25 min for discussion
* All attendees muted
* Click "raise hand" button if have a ?; the presenter then unmutes you
In Zoom settings I also:
* Enable waiting room, so that I control who gets in
* Give myself the ability to remove anyone from the meeting at any time (if they're causing trouble), and they can't rejoin
I don't enable the chat function. Some have asked me to change this -- so they can write questions/comments instead of raising hand. But, I worry that if a troll does get into the mtg, a chat option would give them a way to be disruptive. Seems more risky than beneficial.
