1. (Thread) I know some on the Labour left will be wondering what to do in the wake of Kier Starmer's election. They will be questioning whether their party still represents and welcomes them, they may even be thinking "maybe it's time to join the Green Party...🤔"
2. It goes without saying that @TheGreenParty will always welcome passionate activists, from all walks of life, who are committed to fighting for social and climate justice. Our members are our greatest asset, leading issues-based campaigns across the country 💚🌊
3. We see and recognise this passion in the labour movement too, but our party is not a mini-break for disgruntled ex-labour members. Do not join us in protest, do not vote for us in protest. Join our movement if you believe in it and want to be part of it, now and in the future.
4. Hopping between parties is a fools game and I'm particularly concerned that some Labour members, who are afraid of being expelled due to their anti-semitic views, are seeing the Green Party as a new 'lefty' adventure.
5. Let me tell you right now, we don't want you 🚫
6. We have our own struggles with representation, prejudice, transphobia and diversity. We have our own leadership election on the horizon. We have our own political problems.

We certainly don't need an influx of bigots and the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
7. But of course, for all our problems, there's no place I'd rather be. I'm committed to changing my party by being part of it (even when it pisses me off) and I'm proud of the progress we continue to make in line with our philosophy and values, though the work isn't over.
8. So to the Labour left, I caution you not to walk out in anger. If you make the change, make it in earnest and after some serious thought.

The Green Party isn't going anywhere. There's always a home here for the best of you if you need it ✊🌱 https://join.greenparty.org.uk/
