I used to think jargon was gatekeeping, and sometimes I'm sure it is. However, today I understand thought depends on language.

Accessing valuable knowledge embodied in jargon depends on trust. Trust that's carefully cultivated over time.
One great way to get this ball rolling is to demonstrate the benefit of a specific piece of jargon. Choose carefully to surface the most valuable piece of jargon possible. It should be so valuable that it's ~ universally agreed to move the problem forward.
A trick to do this is ... censoring the low value jargon! Hold back and use new language judiciously. Over time you'll cultivate trust. As trust grows, you'll be able to increase the bandwidth of what you can possibly share with your team. 🚀
