when PRC students in Australia or Canada call ethnic Chinese 汉奸 for expressing solidarity with pro-democracy activists in HK.
Or that the PRC government couches its right to Taiwan, in part, within the framework of a racial claim to the people of Taiwan.

The world is paying greater attention to a more influential China. But it changes the conversation if the public understands the PRC as a one-party authoritarian state that explicitly uses racial politics domestically and internationally.
