Even before I totally woke up to how awful Corbyn is, I remember arguing in left-wing circles that socialist economic policies shouldn’t be tied to Corbyn (i.e. labelling it ‘Corbynomics’ 🙄), because if he fails then so will the policies. https://twitter.com/gabemilne96/status/1246230469768876032
The left that backed Corbyn morphed into a hard-left dominated by cranks who demanded loyalty to the man above all else. It was toxic.

Left-wing politics should never centre around one person - it’s called a movement for a reason.
So-called ‘moderates’ largely adopted the left-wing economic policies that have become popular since 2015 (anti-austerity, nationalised industry, UBI..).

But they didn’t adopt the crankery, antisemitic rhetoric, or dismal global outlook.

The moderates are now the sensible left.
