Not a huge fan of Starmer, he’s a bit too centrist for me personally but I know that he’ll bring a lot of people who didn’t like Corbyn (fairly or not) back to the fold...despite most of the dislike from what I saw not being based on policy & certainly not his voting record.
I don’t dislike him, he just doesn’t inspire me or make me believe in real change, which feels like a big step away from JC, who refused to accept that there wasn’t both desire & finances to achieve it. He represented my views better than any UK politician in my adult life.
I know we live in a Tory country & the reality is that most don’t want a change for the many, they want what best suits them & their family, particularly if it’s suggested that their £ situation may be slightly affected to significantly improve the lives of others. We know this.
...after all, how long have Labour actually been in government, 20-30 years? So the chances of an uber left socialist ever getting power in this country is zero but Corbyn & the movement inspired a massively disenfranchised part of our society & gave hope.
JC’s supposed/apparent indifference to serious accusations & a one policy Brexit election killed it. It was a landslide defeat, so if Starmer gives us a better chance of a proper challenge to this long reign of Tory government, I’ll take it.
Sad to say, but I have to accept that left of middle is the best we’re ever likely to get & that for me is certainly better than what we’ve got. Again, I’m not ‘unhappy’ with him or Rayner but the wind has gone from my leftie sails a bit. Cheers ✊🏽
