These birds find one section of brick on my garden wall, and only that section, fascinating. They are forever pecking at it. I don’t know if the white discolouration came because of the pecking or the pecking came because of the discolouration. What’s going on?!

Sometimes there will be a dozen of them, lined up along that white line (no sniggering at the back)
