Beat Sekiro! I missed out on a few bosses cause I just wanted to beat it already but it was a lot of fun! Got the Dragon Returns ending and I think a sequel would be pretty rad
The game definitely had a pretty rocky start. I know these types of games usually have that huge skill curve but I feel like this one definitely just starts you out with nooooothing. The whole middle/late game I really enjoyed, not nearly as salty as when I tried souls
On paper these games would be my jam, I love the challenge and exploring and the aesthetics are always cool but I'm just not patient enough for them. What I appreciate about super tough platformer like Celeste or meatboy is you die and then immediately you can go back to dying
So there's a lot more learning going on. What souls games do a lot that's the real put off is the long loading screen plus the checkpoints being miiiiiles away from the boss, only for you to be allowed to make like 2 mistakes before trying again.
And I understand their idea behind the estus flask risk reward system, and the sheer joy of finding an estus upgrade, but when you can only take one hit before having to replenish, it gets tedious. I'd rather just have one huge health bar and a few big potions instead of 10+ sips
All that said they pretty much just put royal guard on a cool Japanese aesthetic and for that reason alone I gotta say I love sekiro cause I'm all about that shit lol
Something that really sets it apart is I feel that bosses actually respond to you. It's like you can put on pressure and they start doing predictable things because you hit them, instead of just rolling around until you can hit.
It's like a good bait/frame trap in fighting games.
I could probably extend this thread on why I thought the game was so cool for like 5-6 more tweets but I'll just stop and leave it at it was cool lol
