....in a profile. I wrote it in because it added a certain element to her character: here was a powerful woman in control of her destiny sneaking out for a smoke before entering her workplace.

Later, when the copy was with the desk, I felt the smoking part could land...

...the lady in trouble & asked that it be taken out. It wasn't, and I didn't catch it before being printed since there was no playback

Sure enough, she wasn't pleased. Her family & employers had let their displeasure known. I've always carried that guilt around....
