The gospel is bitter. The gospel stinks like a skunk. It pricks the soul, triggers jaundice. But the gospel must be preached. That while singlemotherhood is not a disability, it is not adequately equipped to mold boys into men. It must seek the complementary male touch.
A chicken cannot teach an eagle to fly. Malehood is not a theory, it is an experience. Your boys need to be around men to become men. The male touch is not limited to the birth father, the world is full of men. Uncles, brothers, & grandpas.
It is not a condemnation of the parent who stayed nor is it a sanitization of the irresponsible father. This is not about how you feel, it is about preparing your son for an unforgiving world whose apathy for the man is well documented. Our experiences are not the same.
