I have been reading a lot of articles on COVID-19 and marketing and let me tell you the tea.
For obvious reasons, consumers are re-evaluating their needs. Whether we believe it or not COVID-19 is a major life event that won't evaporate once the lock down is over.
The psychology uncertainty and impact of COVID-19 will cause consumers to change their purchase habit, re-evaluate their current behaviour and figure out what best serves them.
As a brand, THIS IS NOT THE BEST TIME TO BE QUIET. You want to disappear and appear when everything is back to "normal" and you think people won't notice? Lol
Although tt's unclear what the "new normal" will be. It is key that brands are empathetic and trustworthy during this crisis. Consumers will positively remember the brands they felt "held" their hands during this period.
Build your brand salience, activate a top of mind awareness strategy. It's not going to be business as usual and the longer the disruption, the more firmly fixed consumers new habit will be.
As a brand, it is a must that you help. Even if you provide one exceptionally positive and memorable experience during this period, it's much better than doing nothing.
Key needs consumers have at the moment – to escape boredom (the reason why challenges are escalating), distraction from anxiety and stress, & easy delivery during self-isolation.
