[MEGATHREAD] I think “Viridian Gym Leader Jessie and Roaming Shiny Hunter James” may be my favorite of my Team Rocket AUs so I’m probably gonna develop it more than the others, including the pokemon they keep with them. #anipoke

Roselia down are James’ shiny pokemon, and Gengar down are the ones Jessie uses for gym battles. Meowth occasionally travels with James and sometimes Jessie joins them but on a day-to-day they both live at the gym.

All their old pokémon, with the exception of Dustox and Cacnea, now live at the estate left to James by his Nanny and Pop Pop after their eventual passing.

This is also a future AU, Team Rocket is no more but they left before its collapse. They decide to do so after the events of Sun and Moon, with James impulsively taking action while Jessie remained in Team Rocket officially to take advantage of their knowledge of Mew and her mom.

Before leaving Alola, Jessie bonds with a Cubone which she continues to travel with back to Kanto. Unlike SM proper, Mareanie, Mimikyu, Bewear, and Stufful travel back with them, staying with James so as not to be “claimed” by Giovanni.

Jessie and Meowth make their request to Giovanni and, considering Miyamoto’s status and relationship with his own mother, accepts. He returns all of Jessie’s old pokémon, but keeps James’, seeing his spontaneous resignation as traitorous.

As this is happening James and the Alola pokémon go back to his parents estate for Growlie, who’s since evolved. With all of Jessie’s pokémon, James’ Mareanie and Arcanine, and Bewear and Stufful, they regroup at the base of the mountain where Miyamoto was last reported to be.

Their search proves to be dangerous and near fatal (think Snow Way Out back in season 1) until Mew finds and leads them to a den in the mountains where Miyamoto is seeking refuge before disappearing. Before being found by Mew, Cubone evolves in an attempt to protect everyone.

After hearing of Giovanni’s treatment towards the two, and out of spite for giving up on her, Miyamoto suggests storming HQ and taking it down from the inside upon their return. In doing so they get back James’ old pokémon and claim the Viridian Gym (TR still owns it here).

Lacking a proper home for them and their pokémon they visit Nanny and Pop Pop who hit it off with Miyamoto and they all live at the estate for the coming months. Miyamoto grows to love the pokémon, and Bewear and Stufful become her partners, though remaining technically wild.

In this time James bonds with a shiny Roselia living at the estate, and winds up becoming fascinated with shiny pokémon. Jessie is approved as Viridian City’s ghost type gym leader. She and Meowth move there while James, Arcanine, and Roselia travel searching for other shinies.

Miyamoto stays behind with the rest of the pokémon, becoming their primary caretaker in Nanny and Pop Pop’s old age. They gift Jessie with a key stone for good luck before she leaves, but she doesn’t find use for it for a while.

Heres where events become more sporadic.

A few months into her new position Jessie comes across a wild Gengar who she befriends and ultimately catches.

After getting a call from James reporting his first shiny after Roselia, a Spritzee, Jessie makes a trip to train in Kalos.

She asks Miyamoto to temporarily look over the gym as she, Meowth, and Gengar visit James in Kalos with the intent of finding a mega stone. After acquiring one and parting with James they train at the Tower of Mastery honing mega evolution together before returning to Kanto.

Years later, James is in Hoenn when he encounters a trainer who has caught both Arbok and Weezing. After a tearfum reunion and hearing the story of their separation, the trainer agrees to return the two. They travel with James until he finds a Metang and comes back home.

Arbok comes to the Viridian Gym with Jessie and Wobbuffet, who also was pleased to see Arbok again, comes with them. Weezing decides to stay at the estate to be with James’ grandparents as he goes onto continue his travels.
