#AnnaThomas was a young filmmaker who wrote the book to finance a film. @AAKnopf originally published it 1972, then @PenguinUKBooks in 1973; this is the 1978 reprint of the #Penguin edition. It went on to sell a million copies according to the author’s wiki page. 2/n

When I bought it, #stagflation (Hi, @RabeeTourky!) was entrenched, unemployment high & @ToadHallANU @ourANU we were living lean. Last night I recalled the #AnnaThomas #PotatoPeelBroth (aka #GarbageSoup) #recipe using tired old veggies & vegie scraps to make vegetarian stock. 3/n

Will use #TheVegetarianEpicure a fair bit over the next few years as we live thru a sustained economic trough. Share your survival skills (and recipes). Not everyone knows how to cook. Cooking is cheaper & healthier than relying on the UPF ultra-processed foods many live on. 4/n
